Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and Un-Conferences | William Hortz | LinkedIn

Link
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/entrepreneurial-ecosysytems-un-conferences-willi…
An un-conference is an open-format regional conference where everyone interested in the growth and development of their community is welcome to speak on any topic they are passionate about. Their motto is Share-Learn-Grow. Much like Tyler Durden's Fight Club, there are only 2 rules to the BarCamp UnConference: 1. You must want to help others learn what you know! 2. You are not here to sell or do a product presentation!

Tipglo - Let's build a better creative economy

Link
https://tipglo.com/
What is Tipglo? Tipglo is a platform that allows you to communicate with people who and are difficult to reach. Authors, celebrities, video producers, experts, bloggers, journalists, musicians – use Tipglo to respond to their fans. If I have a question can’t I just send an email or a tweet? Yes, you can, but you may not receive a response. Some people receive dozens, if not hundreds, of messages each day. They can't respond to most of them. If you need a personal response, Tipglo is a way to cut through the clutter and get attention. When will my card be charged?

Ronna-Renee Jackson from the Chattanooga Technology Council

Instead of thinking and acting small, companies started acting big and big things happened. There were some strong players in the mix – like EPB, who made us "Gig City". Several strong companies, such as Lamp Post Group, The Company Lab and other non-profits, were working together to redefine our future. Mayor Berke launched Chattanooga Forward. From that, a wellspring of ideas flowed and even more organizations sprouted or reimagined themselves to create a vibrant network. So, to me, the biggest change has been in attitude and spirit – we were no longer "run-down."

Announcement #4: New Tech Cities, a Blog Series

Link
https://www.ostraining.com/blog/cities/chattanooga-tech/
In 2005, Chattanooga opened the Tennessee Aquarium right in the heart of downtown. Chattanooga is on the Tennessee River and the city started working hard to improve the waterfront. We went back to visit and found a couple of new restaurants open. We kept on going back to Chattanooga over the next few years, and every year was better. The city was cleaner, new hotels and attractions arrived, and we started hearing about new tech companies in the city. Then in 2010, Chattanooga got the fastest internet in the country with 1 Gig service available to everyone.

they are getting help, and it comes from within the community, including the new downtown Canvs shared workspace, designed to attract and nurture early startups like Salpeter’s. With the planned Creative Village project and a larger UCF satellite campus on the drawing board, government, educational institutions and leading businesses are taking a supporting role, with the stated goal of turning Orlando into one of the Southeast’s premier startup hubs. That suits Mark Salpeter just fine. “I really like Orlando,’’ he says. “I feel (the tech community) is growing a lot and there’s room to grow.

in the middle of the campaign, Fargo launched KickingItForward.org, a website that urged Kickstarter creators who reached their funding goal to pledge 5 percent of their profits to other Kickstarter campaigns. Fargo pledged to do the same. Since then, what started as a simple idea has grown into a widespread movement. Thousands of Kickstarter creators have since pledged to kick it forward if they meet their goal. Of that group, more than 1,000 projects have been successfully funded.

Residents create Google map to track coyote sightings - Bungalower

Link
http://bungalower.com/2014/08/residents-create-google-map-track/
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission does not track/count coyotes in the state so residents have taken it upon themselves to do so. Right now on the map, there are 15 sightings of coyotes and 15 missing or dead pets. Coyotes can and do prey on domestic cats and small dogs. The fish and wildlife commission advises: To protect your pets, don’t allow them to roam freely.

Building Bridges, Linking Islands | Acquia

The conceptual difference between Drupal, as embodied in Drupal 8, and other major PHP projects is vastly smaller than ever before, providing PHP coders two key advantages: it makes it easier for non-Drupal developers to learn Drupal and it makes it easier for Drupal developers to learn non-Drupal systems.
