Accelerating Drupal 8 Adoption | Acquia

Link
https://www.acquia.com/blog/accelerating-drupal-8-adoption/27/01/2016/3291486
$500k should be directly allocated to external maintainers and expert-level Drupal developers in the community This would ensure that we would have a group of leaders in the project who could immediately understand the correct D8 approach, quickly turn around a D8 version of a module and un-block the patch-acceptance process by working with their connections in the Drupal community. All external contributors would be paid at a community rate to magnify the benefit of the development fund

Link
https://tipglo.com/
What is Tipglo? Tipglo is a platform that allows you to communicate with people who and are difficult to reach. Authors, celebrities, video producers, experts, bloggers, journalists, musicians – use Tipglo to respond to their fans. If I have a question can’t I just send an email or a tweet? Yes, you can, but you may not receive a response. Some people receive dozens, if not hundreds, of messages each day. They can't respond to most of them. If you need a personal response, Tipglo is a way to cut through the clutter and get attention. When will my card be charged?

Announcing the Drupal 8 Accelerate Program | Drupal Association

Link
https://assoc.drupal.org/blog/holly.ross.drupal/announcing-drupal-8-accelerate-…
we are not deciding WHAT gets funded. This gets handled by the branch maintainers, keeping the Association on the right side of the “we don’t direct the project” line. The Drupal 8 Accelerate program is a fantastic opportunity for the Association to support and amplify community efforts. All of our favorite work at the Association follows this model - DrupalCon session selection, Community Cultivation Grants, Global Training Days, and DrupalCamp Fiscal Sponsorship to name a few. We’re here to make it easier for you to innovate, and this program is yet another example.

Orlando approves $100,000 for seed fund - Orlando Sentinel

A new Orlando seed fund will pursue a federal grant after the city council helped push it past the required $250,000 in matching funds Monday. City officials unanimously approved $100,000 for StarterCorps, a non-profit organization which will be housed at the downtown Orlando coworking space Canvs. StarterCorps executive director Kirstie Chadwick, a veteran of Orlando's technology startup community, said the council's support could go a long way toward helping StarterCorps receive the grant. "It's huge," she said.

At Matadero, Red Bull Adds Money (and Energy) to Culture - NYTimes.com

Now Matadero is evolving into a cultural laboratory, where a new arts financing strategy is being tested. Companies and institutions are providing financial support to supplement dwindling government arts subsidies, but with a twist: they don’t just send checks, they move in. Within the walled 59,000-square-foot center, there are public theaters and exhibition spaces that last year drew more than 500,000 visitors for music and art events and avant-garde plays.
