North of Livingston is the corporate campus, where digital commerce will fly through the air like invisible Frisbees, carried on the high-tech hopes of the community and kept aloft by investors with capital, catering to young, fast-growing tech companies.
Pipe dream? Perhaps.
Dive bars have been a fascination of mine ever since I’ve been of drinking age. The kind of bars that are hard to find and so local to an area they are almost intimidating to enter. A conversation a few weeks back with a friend at a local bar got me thinking about going on a true dive bar tour around the Orlando area. The bar we were at was a local hipster enclave frequented by many in my inner circle. My friend began the conversation bemoaning how everyone always comes to this same bar, on the same nights, orders the same thing, and has the same small talk with the same people.

“We just added three new venues, for next year’s Fringe,” he said.
One will be at Theatre Downtown, at 2113 N. Orange Ave. That’s just a few blocks away from Loch Haven Park, since Theatre Downtown is at the corner of Orange Avenue and Princeton Avenue.
Fringe will also be adding shows at The Venue.

There’s a huge diversity of art on a variety of themes. Below is a snapshot of a selection of some entries based on a theme of Food.
The theme I chose for my entry was Thread and Surface, in which I began an exploration, in the sketchbook, of a second in my Books of the Dead series.

Occupying a tiny corner inside Urban ReThink, the self-proclaimed "Happy Food Café" is the culmination of the hard work and effort of sisters Tisse and Joyce Mallon.
Tisse's work as a "happiness coach" has clearly affected the dishes coming out of this diminutive kitchen. The always fresh, made-to-order, organic-when-possible, unprocessed fare not only supplies the alimentary essentials, but really does leave you with a sense of cheer and well-being, and not out of some act of cultish or coercive persuasion, either.
