Most transparent Drupal Core development... ever
last updated August 2, 2012.
We are hard at work on the next version of Drupal. Some of the great things planned include better HTML5 and mobile support, improved multilingual features, and setting up Drupal 8 on a modern web development framework. But we can't do any of it without your help!
Orlando - Recap by Don VanDemark
The Orlando Co-Working group met at Urban Rethink, a non-profit coworking/creative event space in downtown Orlando. While everyone came to work on their own projects, we also had some running discussions summarizing DrupalCon (as well as discuss the benefits of ham-and-cheese bagels for breakfast). We had a variety of people join us: three of us were from MediaCurrent, three others were from local companies and two were freelancers.
I’m excited to announce progress on my new e-book on PhoneGap, Drupal, and jQuery Mobile! I gave an interview on using Drupal with PhoneGap to Brian Lewis at Modules Unraveled last month. In addition to the podcast, which I really enjoyed making, I recorded a screencast on setting up PhoneGap, which I hope you enjoy.
The GeShi Filter module provides a filter for source code syntax highlighting for a wide range of languages.
Source code can be entered with for example ... or .... Automatically adding line numbers is possible too with for example [ruby linenumbers="normal"].
Modern multitier software architecture allows us to separate concerns when we are building a web application. For example, when there is a request to visualize a content item in Drupal, the request is handed off to a logical handler (module), which should be using some kind of API to read the necessary data from the database. And once it has assembled that data it should invoke the theming engine and its current theme in order for the final output to be rendered all ready to be sent back to the browser that made the request in the first place.
Our charity Drupal coding event, Coding for a Cause, made it to the local paper earlier this month. It's always nice to be worthy of a picture in the paper.
Here I will descripe how to provide instant messaging via a discrete jabber server in the framework Drupal. As frontend I used a bit modified version of the web based JWChat. The backend communicates with the jabber server at database level and cares about correct registrations and buddy lists.
Joe Turgeon builds websites and interactive applications. Since 2006, arithmetric marks the route of my ideas exploring new approaches to web design and production.
My work is anchored by insights into the relevance of technology for people as a source of power and a platform for creativity. I seek opportunities to design ways of doing that respond efficiently and elegantly to real-world problems.
In my portfolio of projects, demos, and code are selected highlights of my work. I am a principal designer and developer for work from arithmetric and Third Ave.
