Life returns to Urban Rethink space with pop-up Burrow Press bookstore | Blogs | Orlando Weekly

Yeah, that place was awesome. Sigh. If you missed it somehow, there used to be a multi-use art/music/discussion/co-working/tech/café space located on Central Boulevard (between what's now Soco and Baoery). It closed in 2013, after two or three years of readings, film screenings, music, broomstick pony races, panels, pop-up dinners and whatever else its revolving band of creative staffers (including Darren McDaniel, Pat Greene, Brendan O'Connor, Shaina Anderson, Kim Britt, Dina Mack and many more we are no doubt forgetting) could pull off.

How To Publish Books with Booktype on Debian 8 | DigitalOcean

Link
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-publish-books-with-book…
Booktype can be installed on any suitable GNU/Linux or Apple OS X server and in principle could run on Windows too, but this tutorial focuses on the recommended platform of Debian stable, version 8.2 (Jessie). While writing and editing books, authors can use any device with a modern web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. In this tutorial, we'll go through an installation of Booktype which will enable you and your colleagues to produce PDF books for print and screen, EPUBs for digital devices, and XHTML for your website — all from a single source.

A Digital Writers Style Guide for Dynamic Publishing

Link
https://research.consortium.io/docs/digital_writers_style_guide/digital_writers…
The trick is to use the rem unit introduced in CSS3, which refers to the root element size. In mPDF, 1rem is equivalent to the font size of the HTML body element. All other elements which appear as blocks in the columns, such as headings, subheadings, and info boxes, need to have a vertical size which adds up to an exact multiple of the body text or its line-height. Using rem makes the calculation easier, and also means that changes to body text size will scale other elements proportionally.

Making Lists: Mindblowing SF by Women and People of Color | Tor.com

Some fantasy stories/novels and fantasy-only authors may have snuck in, but this is mainly just science fiction. Had I asked for a similar list of fantasy fiction, I’m sure it would be more than twice as long.

PHP: The Right Way

Link
http://www.phptherightway.com/
There’s a lot of outdated information on the Web that leads new PHP users astray, propagating bad practices and insecure code. PHP: The Right Way is an easy-to-read, quick reference for PHP popular coding standards, links to authoritative tutorials around the Web and what the contributors consider to be best practices at the present time. There is no canonical way to use PHP.
